Chile Challenge 2019 - Taos' Premier Fall Event
The 13th Annual Taos Milagro Rotary Club Chile Challenge held ln 2019 at the Taos Country Club was an amazing success garnering over $32,000 for Taos County youth scholarships and local community literacy projects. The event was held on September 14, 2019 beginning with a scramble golf tournament. All duffers and par shooters were encouraged to tee it up.
Festivities included a Chile Challenge featuring red and green chile cook-off from leading restaurants and chefs in Taos and surrounding environs. We also featured a Battle of the Breweries offering a sampling of some of the finest beers in the southwest. In addition, there was also a silent auction with over 100 items including gift certificates from the area’s leading businesses, galleries, lodging and local eateries. A special Thank You to all who participated and donated to make this event a great success.
Special Note: Due to the 2020 pandemic the Chile Challenge event was canceled for 2020 and 2021. We will be back in 2022 with another successful fundraising event. Although we were unable to hold the event sponsors stepped forward and donated approximately $30,000 in 2020. The funds were used to sponsor academic, certification, and vocational scholorahips including literacy projects for county wide elementary schools. A special acknoledgement for all of those who contributed during this difficult year to help the youth in Taos County.
